TOFUA PASSENGER LOST
MAN GOES OVERBOARD SHIP MAKES VAIN SEARCH A second-class passenger on the Tofua, Mr. Holst, was lost overboard last Friday, according to a wireless message received by the Union Steam Ship Company from the ship. Mr. Holst was first missed about four o’clock on Friday afternoon, and as a speedy search did not find him the ship was turned back on her course until dark. In spite of every effort, however, no sign of the missing man was discovered. The Tofua is due in Auckland at 6 p.m. today with passengers, mail and cargo from Tonga, Samoa and Fiji. She left Suva on Thursday afternoon.
