On the premises being opened for business on Friday morning, followng the Thursday half-holiday, the was found in disorder, articles o , c iothing being strewn aboutl the goor and trampled on.

Judging by the number of suitcases alasing, the thieves must have used them to carry away the stolen property. The section at the rear of the .hop continues back to a quiet street, hj which route it would be quite an easy matter to get away unobserved. The quantity of goods removed indicates that a motor-car had been used by the burglars. It is at present impossible to estimate the value of the goods stolen, but it will run into a fairly large jum. The police have the matter in hand. SHOP WINDOW BROKEN Early on Wednesday morning the general store of Mr. Benson, on Te Komi Road, near the Te Kuiti school, was broken into. An entrance was gained by breaking a large plateglass window in the front of the shop. Though there was other money in the shop at the time, only 8s in cash was taken, nothing else being touched. Mr. Benson's residence is only a short distance from the store, but the storekeeper did not hear the breaking of the shop window.
