TIVOLI AND EVERYBODY’S
“THOROUGHBREDS” One of the greatest horse racing pictures ever produced, “Thoroughbreds,” starring Marian Nixon, pretty heroine of Universal Pictures, is now at the Tivoli and. Everybody’s Theatres. “Thoroughbreds,” made under the direction of Robert F. Hill, has brought to the screen the most thrilling scenes of the dirt track ever made into a motion picture. It was started with the avowed intention of the director to give picturegoers a perfect reproduction of an exciting horse race on one of the big tracks. This plan has been carried out even better than was anticipated. All the thrill, colour and romance connected with the running of a big race has been transferred to the film negative. Richard Walling, one of Hollywood’s most promising juveniles, plays opposite Miss Nixon. Mary Nolan, noted stage and screen beauty, and Otis Harlan are also cast in prominent roles. Included in the stellar company are Sam De Grasse, Montague Love and Hayden Stevenson. “Thoroughbreds” is a screen adaptation of a Gerald Beaumont story. Many of the exterior scenes of the horse races were filmed at the well-known Belmont Park race track at Long Island New York. Others were made at tracks near Hollywood. At both theatres there are bright supports, headed by “The Knight of Nights,” a vivid Parisian drama starring two noted Continental screen players in Max Schreck and La Jana.
