IGNORED CONSTABLE’S ORDER JpR SILENCE TRIO FINED AS LESSON Even the best of singing is not appreciated at times and a constable made that quite clear when be accosted a trio of lusty vocalists who were carolling merrily on Karangahape Road in the small hours of the morning recently. Paying little attention to the warning, the three young men again gave tongue when the constable was out of the way. This morning at the Police Court John Russell. Ivan J. Costello and 1,. \V. Dobbison pleaded guilty on a charge of behaving in a disorderly manner. •'These three lads want a lesson.” remarked Sub-Inspector McCarthy. "They were going home at 1.30 in the morning singing. No doubt it was pleasant to them, bvit not for people who wanted to sleep.” The subinspector referred to the warning given them by the constable. “Had they taken any notice of the warning, proceedings would not have been taken,” ho added. Fines of £ 1 and costs were imposed on each defendant.
