BOWLEY BATS AND BOWLS BRILLIANTLY
r PED BOWLEY, erstwhile coach to the Auckland Cricket Association, is making a name for himself in English county cricket this summer. He is right up among the big guns in the batting averages, and has been getting wickets, too. In our last New Zealand season, Bowley
was showing the effects of his strenuous all - the-year-round work as player and coach, from one side of the world to [ the other. Ted was a very tired man at times, and once or twice, it looked just a question
whether he could stand the strain. His brilliant recovery of form in England will be very gratifying to a host of friends in Auckland, and if he sees fit to accept his invitation to again visit the Dominion in the less strenuous role of a member of Gilligan’s tourists, he will get a warm welcome in Maoriland. A fine type of the present-day English professional, he did splendid work during his three-year coaching term in Auckland.
