KENTUCKY JUBILEE SINGERS

HIS MAJESTY’S TOMORROW At His Majesty’s Theatre tomorrow (Saturday) night, J. C. Williamson, Ltd., will give Aucklanders a unique opportunity of hearing the Kentucky Jubilee Singers, comprising some of tlie finest coloured singers and actors from America. They will sing sweet sentimental songs, with the quaint words and diction of the cotton fields, not on the empty boards of the concert platform, but in a series of full stage settings as elaborate as they are picturesque. Some of these scenes, for instance the beautiful plantation group and the graphic scene representing a dug-out in France, are universally considered to b© wonderful products of the scenepainter’s art. Amid these descriptive surroundings, songs that will linger long in the memory take on a novel freshness distinct from the coldness of the concert platform. It needs little imagination to picture the warmth and special appeal of music played and sung in such . a brilliant and arresting environment. The effect sought for is musical perfection combined with the glamour and romance of the stage.

Quite a feature of the entertainment is the clever and brilliant dancing in the plantation setting, and the light touches of comedy are always thoroughly appreciated by the audience. The box plans are now open at Lewis Eady, Ltd.
