AWAPUNI HURDLES

T OCARNO and Red Fuchsia, two of Mrs. McDonald's jumping brigade, were sent along over seven furlongs on the course proper at Awapuni this week. Red Fuchsia made the pace right to the straight entrance, where Locarno joined issue and the pair finished on terms in 1.41 1-5. Red Fuchsia has foregone the big steeples at Trentham in preference for the Trentham and Winter Hurdles, in which he should make favourable showings. Locarno will not figure on the opening day, but will come in later on and, all going well, will also represent the stable in the Winter H urdles.
