MORRINSVILLE NOTES
At this week’s meeting of the Morrinsville Borough Council two building permits were issued: For a house in Canada Street for Mr. P. S. Philpott and a store in Hamilton Road for Mr. JJ. Bethel. The council declined the application of A. J. Skinner to be allowed to do jobbing work in connection with tlve water supply service, on the grounds that the council was ot the opinion that plumbing work should be done by qualified plumbers. Up to yesterday the sum of £.7 9s 6d had been subscribed in respnse to the Mayor’s appeal for funds to assist the earthquake sufferers.^ The first prize at the Morrinsville Croquet Club’s five hundred evening on Saturday were won by Mrs. Yardley and Mr M. Edgar. The minor prizes were won by Miss Mallett and Mr. O. Howie. _________—
