SCOTLAND YARD EXPERT RETIRES AN OFFER FROM CHICAGO (Australian and N.Z. Press Associaticm) (United Service) Reed. 11.20 a.m. LONDON, Sunday. Inspector Wensley’s retirement from the head of the Criminal Investigation Department of Scotland Yard ends the career of the man whom Sir Charles Muir described as the greatest detective of all time. Immediately after the retirement of Inspector Wensley was announced the Chicago police authorities cabled offering him a post in an advisory capacity, with a view to a strenuous effort to clear Chicago of gangs of murderers and thieves. Inspector Wensley is awaiting the arrival of the agent who is bringing details of the offer.
