ST. JOHN’S, PONSONBY
FIFTY-SECOND ANNIVERSARY In celebration of the 52nd anniversary of its founding, St. John's Church, Ponsonby, held special services yesterday. There were large attendances. The morning service was conducted by the Rev. W. Walker. In the afternoon a Pleasant Sunday Afternoon was held under the chairmanship of Major-General Sir George Richardson, who gave an address on the League of Nations in relation to mandated territories. A programme of sacred music was also given. In the evening the Rev. A. Mitchell conducted a musical service and spoke on Saint Paul. Selections from Mendelssohn’s oratorio, “St. Paul,” were given by Miss Alma McGruer and Messrs. F. Sutherland and R. Errington, and a large choir sang choruses from the same work. The offertories for the day amounted to over £6O.
