AUSTRALIA PLANS NEW PRODUCTIONS Ned Kelly and “The Term of Hi* Natural Life” v/ill be excluded from the epoch making events that will be recorded in the lavish first talkie to be made in Australia under the title of “The Trail of the Southern Cross.” to Mr. Turnbull, o* Melbourne, who has contracted to handle the British and Dominion Company's talkie films in Australia, the company plans to produce two talkies annually in each of the Dominions, starting with Australia. The production w-ill cost at least £IOO.OOO and .will feature national development. It is hoped to engage an Australian leading lady. "Blackwaters” will be the first. Brit-ish-made talkie to go to Australia. It was made in an American studio leased by the British company.
