STEAM COAL SHORTAGE
POSITION IN DUNEDIN Press Association DUNEDIN, Friday. Dunedin coal merchants report that supplies of household coal are plentiful and, whatever may be the experience in other towns, there is no likelihood of any shortage here in the immediate future. As a matter of fact, some coal merchants her© have had to reduce their orders to the Southland mines, consequent on an easier demand from householders. The position is different, however, in the case of hard coals required for industrial purposes. Here there is a real shortage and it is likely to increase until coal can again be transported from the West Coast.
