RECENT STEADY INCREASE LORD IVEAGH’S REVIEW British Official Wireless RUGBY, Thursday. The Earl of Iveagh, in referring to Imperial trade in his presidential address to the Federation of Chambers of Commerce of the Empire, said there had been a steady and satisfactory increase during the last year. Among the notable features he mentioned that the total trade of Canada with the rest of the Empire showed an increase of eight per cent. The quantity of wheat received in the United Kingdom created a. new record. The value of the Australian wool exports was up by several millions of pounds. Both the export and import values for New Zealand had reached a new high level. The production of tobacco in the Empire maintained its rise. The import into the United Kingdom of coffee from East Africa had created another record. and there were developments in connection with the introduction of cotton. The value of exports of United Kingdom produce to Britain overseas exceeded by over £2,000,000 those of 1927.
