HOUSE DESTROYED

FIRE AT ONEHUNGA ALL FURNITURE LOST A house at Onehunga, which had been vacated for five hours, caught fire last evening and was completely destroyed at about 10.30 o’clock. , The house was a five-roomed one in Cameron Street. It was occupied by Mr. F. J. Martin, a carrier, who left the building to go into the city at about five o’clock, his wife having been away since several hours earlier. The Onehunga Brigade received the alarm at about 10.15 p.m., but by that time the house was a flaming shell. As a strong wind was blowing the flames toward a large wooden stable at the back of the property, the brigade set to work to save it, and was successful after some trouble. Nothing could be saved from the building, which was almost completely destroyed. The furniture was insured for £2OO.
