WAIKATO SUNSHINE LEAGUE
During the seven years he has been president of the Waikato Hospital Sunshine League, Mr. A. L. Yule has attended 33 of 84 executive meetings, being absent from town on the two occasions, he missed the meetings. This record and Mr. Yule’s faithful service to the league were the subject of eulogistic comment at the annual meeting on Tuesday evening. The lengthy annual report disclosed a healthy financial position and a record of valuable community service to patients and discharged patients. Mr. Yule drew attention to the great need for a convalescent home for women as part of the hospital. Many women who were fit to be discharged were unfit for domestic duties and provision should be made by the board lor this growing necessity. Dr. M. M. Ilockin, medical superintendent, said it was only since he took charge of the hospital that he realised the work the league was doing. He expressed pleasure that the provision a convalescent home for women had been mooted and said it was heartbreaking to discharge women still far from well who could not be retained owing to limited accommodation. Mr. J. a. Young, M.P., spoke in high terms of the league’s operations. The following officers were elected: Patron, Mr. J. R. Fow; president, Mr. H. Grocott; vice-presidents, Messrs. E. V. Stace and F Brewer; secretary, Mr. Ferguson; treasurer, Mr. E. V. Stace; hon. auditor, Mr. H. H. Leake; executive committee, Messrs. A. L. Jule. B. C. Lowry, I. Ousley, H. M. ttammond, G. Hovey, P. E. Stevens, W. Middlemiss, R. McClymont. Captain (representing Ministers’ Associauon), and F. W. Burley; convenor of todies’ organisation, Mrs. Ousley.
