COMMUNITY SINGING

EFFORT AT TOWN HALL Over £25 will go to the EarthquakeRelief Fund as a result of the Community -Sing” held in the Town Hall yesterday the collection being devoted to that cause. Preference was given to the old time songs and “Uncle Tom” of IYA (Mr. T. T. Garland) wielded a vigorous baton and produced good results from a large attendance. "Old Folks at Home" and "Love's Old Sweet Song” were given with spirit and the “sing” ended with the “Cheer Germsong and the National Anthem. The soloists. Miss M. Atkinson and Mr. Karl Atkinson, were repeatedly encored. Mr. Garland interspersed the songs with a variety of anecdotes with a “religious” flavour. Mr. L. A. Eady was in the chair and Mrs. Barrington Snow was the accompanist.
