SANDERS CUP RULES

POINT OF INTERPRETATION r™ REQUEST FROM OTAGO ♦ There was a good attendance at the meeting of the Auckland Yacht and Motor-boat Association, held last evening under the chairmanship of Mr. O. A. Moller. The Otago Yacht and Motor-botLt Association stated that at the last meeting of the Sanders Cup contest conference It was decided to ask the Auckland Association to delete from the sailing rules of the contest rule 3: •'No boat shall be interfered with.” “This rule was framed by yachting lawyers to meet any emergency the Yacht Racing Association will not cover,” said Mr. Moller. It was then unanimously agreed that: “In the opinion of this association, rule 3 should not be deleted.” Mr. Moller said it should be pointed out that the Sanders Cup contest was « «■ test race, and the rules should enf sure a fair test. The rules of an ordinary sailing match should therefore be extended so as to cover any possible emergency. Regarding the measuring of Sanders Cup boats, it was agreed that all Kona boats be measured before the contest by measurers appointed by the conference, using outside template, and that the winner be measured on completion of the contest. It was decided to circularise kCel yacht owners asking whether they are desirous of making use of the St. Mary’s Bay hauling-out sites provided by the Harbour Board, by the reclamation of part of the new boat harbour
