Ganger’s Death At the inquest at Wellington concerning the death of Ambrose Gregory, a railway ganger, who was run down and killed by a train on the Kaiwarra bridge, on June 15, a verdict that Gregory was accidentally killed, no blame being attachable to the driver of .‘he train, was returned-—P.A. Driver Exone rated At an inquest concerning the death of Daphne Ida Wheeler, who was knocked down by a car in Church Street. Palmerston North, on the evening of June 12, the coroner returned a verdict that de.ath was due to a fractured skull, adding that no blame was attachable to the driver. Mr. T. F. Conway.—P.A. Department to Remain The hint of retrenchment given by the Hon. A. J. Stallworthy h-as given rise to a rumour that the Department of Forestry is to be merged with the Lands Department. The Hon. W. B Taverner says that there is not the slightest foundation for the report.— P.A.
