SMALL BOY HAS A HOLIDAY

THREE DAYS FOR 19/9 SAUSAGES HIS WEAKNESS Having reached the mature age of .10, a New Lynn boy began to have a new out look on life. He was only a little orphan and he longed to see the world. It was time he had a holiday, anyway, and school was an awful bore. 'Having made his decision he set out to seek adventure. Making his plans carefully he rolled up his blankets, and—sad to relate—also a £1 note which did not belong to him. •Visiting a butcher’s shop he purchased a goodly supply of succulent sausages, and proceeded to a section, on which grew some dense cane bushes. Here, he spread his blankets; his holiday had commenced. For three days he remained in ambush having the time of his life, and when he was finally restored by a constable to the family with whom he had liver, only 3d remained out of the £1 note.

Still, three days for 19s 9d was not an expensive holiday, and it had been very sweet.
