HOPES SHATTERED
SYDNEY TIMBER STRIKE TO GO ON LEADERS’ DECLARATION Reed. 11 a.m. SYDNEY, Today. Hopes of a settlement of the timber strike in Sydney on the lines of the agreement in Melbourne have been shattered by the leaders of the strikers issuing a statement declaring that the strike will be continued for six or even 12 months, until the men have secured a 44-hour week and the conditions under the Webb Award. Preparations, it is stated, are being made to intensify the struggle.
