AGENT ARRESTED ON FRAUD CHARGE WARRANT FOR SECOND MAN Charged with obtaining £l5O from Arthur Frederick Rowe, of Auckland, by false pretences, Arthur E. Strange was arrested at Thames on Saturday and subsequently remanded to appear at Auckland next Saturday. Two men who carried on business in the Dilworth Building, Queen Street, left Auckland, and as a result ojf a complaint police inquiries were made and Strange was arrested at Thames. A warrant was issued for the arrest of John Tabor, who is believed to have left New Zealand. When Strange appeared in the Thames Police Court he was charged with obtaining £l5O from Arthur Frederick Rowe in Auckland on June 12 by falsely representing that he had a sound publishing company in Auckland at No. 509, Dilworth Building, and that he was the sole agent for certain publications, among them “The 1930 Catholic Review,” for the distribution of which in the Catholic Churches he had the authority of the head of the Church. In connection with the Catholic periodical referred to in the charge, Dr. Cleary, Roman Catholic Bishop of Auckland, recently Issued a disclaimer to the effect that no consent had been issued for -the publishing of any new journal, and that no other journal except “The Month” would receive official recognition.
