NEW BRANCH BANK
UNION EXTENDS FACILITIES OPENING IN CUSTOMS STREET ■With, the object of covering the business expansion which is expected to take place in the direction of the new railway station on Beach Road the Union Bank of Australia, is opening a branch in Customs Street East, at the corner of Gore Street. The new bank, which is situated in Briscoe’s Buildings, will be a full branch of the Union Bank and will transact all banking business. It is contained in roomy premises, fitted out in white and mahogany with large glass entrance doors and spacious windows, which give ample light. The branch will be managed by Mr. J. H. Baxter, formerly a sub-inspector for the Union Bank. He is well known in the city, having been accountant in the Auckland branch from 1920 to 1922.
The office is still in the hands of the carpenters, but it is hoped to open fpr business tomorrow’ or, at the latest, gn Thursday morning.
