PARLIAMENTARIAN HONOURED
TRIBUTE TO MR. H. R. JENKINS Before his departure for the opening of Parliament Mr. H. Ft. Jenkins, member for Parnell, was honoured yesterday in the United Party rooms by friends and well-wishers. A number of Parnell electors were present. Mr. J Trevethick, chairman of the provincial council, spoke of the high qualities of the guest, and wished Mr. Jenkins success during the session, and hoped his health would stand the strain of Parliamentary life. Mr. Glover Clarke endorsed the remarks, stating that, although organisation had contributed something to Mr. Jenkins’s return, the main factor was Mr. Jenkins’s high character, combined with his wellknown business ability. Mr. Jenkins briefly returned thanks for the kind thoughts which prompted the gathering. He looked forward to the meeting of the House, when the policy outlined by the Prime Minister would bo placed before Parliament. They could rest assured that he would lend every assistance to have that policy put upon the Statute Book. Mr. Jenkins said that political opponents were looking to the Government to do great things and he was confident that the great majority of the people were behind the L'nited Party. Cheers were given for Mr. and Mrs. Jenkins.
