GRAND AND LYRIC

“THE SIN SISTER” “The Sin Sister.” the tense dramatic story of Alaska now at the Grand and Lyric Theatres, is the tale of a group of people ice-bound in a small cabin. The mental reaction of the six illassorted companions is told vividly during their enforced stay in the cabin. Horn, the blustering bully, becomes a craven coward. His daughter, the refined society bud, becomes a sloven. Van Dykeman, the dilettante, becomes a real man for the first time. Pearl the cheap vaudeville player, becomes a self-sacrificing girl. Sister Burton, on the verge of insanity, becomes an atheist. How the situation is finally worked out makes a graphic and thrilling story. Nancy Carroll has the role of Pearl and others in the cast are Josephine Dunn and Lawrence Gray. At the Grand Theatre a second feature is shown in “The Silent House.” an exciting mystery thriller starring Mabel Poulton, Gibb McLaughlin and Arthur Pusey. At the Lyric Theatre the second feature is “Dressed to Kill.” a tale of New York’s underworld, starring Mary Astor. One of the latest motion picture recruits from the “Legitimate” is Dorothy Jordan, a featured dancer and singer in “Twinkle Twinkle” and “Funny Face,” who deserted the stage for a Fox Films contract. Her first screen appearance will be in “Fox Movietone Follies” and also “Black Magic”.
