CRICKET CLUB BALL

FUNCTION AT HOWICK GAY ENTERTAINMENT Alembers and friends of the Howick Cricket Club filled the Howick Public Hall on Friday evening. when the club’s first annual ‘ball was held. An enjoyable programme of dance music was provided by the Frolic Orchestra, under the leadership of Airs. S. Brooke. Airs. T. Alulvihill. Aliss Parker and Air. Berge played a number of extras. The masters of ceremonies were Alessrs. Kyd and R. Johnson. Two Alonte Carlo competitions added gaiety to the evening. They were won by Air. Armitage. Airs. Kyd and Air. and Airs. Armitage. Among those present were: Airs. Kyd. wearing a dainty frock in crimson shades. Airs. J. R. Johnstone’s frock was of fawn and mauve. Mrs. L. Mqlnness wore a frock of unrelieved black crepe de chine. Airs. T. Alulvihill had a frock of gold tissue, with uneven hemline. Airs. Hallett was in black moire finished with diamante trimmings. Airs. O. Philips wore a rose crepe de chine frock and scarf. AT DIXIELAND A gay crowd of dancers spent a jolly evening at Dixieland on Saturday night. An original cabaret turn was provided by the Dixieland Boys, who amused the large crowd with their acrobatic and step-dancing. Among those present were: Airs. Alark Davis, in a black georgette gown handsomely embroidered with silver beads. Air. Reg. Humphries, whose pretty frock of sea foam green taffeta had a gracefully dipping skirt of circular flounces. MANY PRESENTATIONS FAREWELL SOCIALS AT MANUREWA MRS. MURRAY AND FAMILY The members of the Manurewa branch of the Presbyterian Womens Guild gave a farewell social to Mrs. Murray, held in the Presbyterian Hall on Wednesday afernoon. There was a large attendance members, who wished the guest ° honour every happiness in her ue* surroundings. During the afternoon, Airs. W. Carroll, president of the guild, presente Airs.
