TALKIE SYNCHRONISER
AUCKLAND ELECTRICIAN’S INVENTION Mr. F. Grant, electrician, of Auckland, has invented a talkie synchroniser, and Messrs. A. W. Andrew and David Cook are associated with him in the promotion of a company to manufacture the machines. The machine was under demonstration at the Gaiety Theatre. Otahuhu, yetserday afternoon, and it is said that what are known in talkie production as “ground” noises have been eliminated. The machine has already been patented in New Zealand and Australia. So far, the talkie reproducer is for sound production on the disc system, but the inventor claims that there w'ould be no difficulty in adapting the machine for other systems. The plate to carry the sound discs is specially padded to eliminate vibration. Mr. Grant has been experimenting with the invention for practically a year. Some months ago a public showing was made at the Prince Edward Theatre in conjunction with Mr. Rudall Hayward. Screen amplifiers are being used for the machine.
