In the Market Place

NEW ISLAND ORANGES APPLES CHEAPER NOW The shortage of Island oranges in the City Markets has been relieved by the Waipahi’s shipment. The vessel’s cargo included quantities of bananas, lemons, grape fruit, tomatoes and coconuts. Apples arfe selling at cheaper rates than those ruling last week. Because of arrivals from Australia, local passions are cheaper. Good mandarins are selling well and the demand for pears is fair. Tomatoes Decline Hothouse tomatoes are again on a weaker market. ►some of the lines of Southern potatoes reaching Auckland are of inferior quality. The season has not been altogether favourable. Cabbages, cauliflowers, pumpkins and most root vegetables are heavily supplied. There was a better demand today for most lines of heavy supplies of poultrv. All classes of cockerels caused spirited attention, and heavy hens sold strongly. Ducks and drakes improved in value. Turkeys were offered in greater numbers and were cleared at late rates.
