N.S.W. AMATEUR GOLF

PLAY IN CHAMPIONSHIP SEMI-FINALS SYDNEY, Thursday. The semi-finals o£ the South Wales amateur golf championship were played today at Rose Ray links, ivo Whitton (Victoria) defeated S. Keane, 7 up and 5; H. Morrison defeated D. Coonau, S and 6. Whitton played great golf and appeared to be Invincible. Keane, however, was distinctly unlucky In narrowly missing several long putts either for a win or a half. Whitton was never off the line and his approaches were remarkable. The other game was patchy and missed putts were numerous. Coonan was always short with his approach putts.
