WAREHOUSE HOODED
STOCK WORTH £SOO IS DAMAGED BLOCKAGE OF DRAIN Goods worth about £SOO were damaged at the premises of Andrew llenzies, • Ltd., Lome Street, on Wednesday evening by water which soaked through a plaster ceiling and then through the floor to the basement. A blocked drain In the billiard rooms above caused the damage, water flushing at the rate of four gallons every five minutes, soaking through the floor and plaster ceiling on to settees, cushions and carpets in the windows of Menzies’, Ltd.'s, warehouse. The water seeped through the floor into the basement, covering the concrete floor to a depth of about one inch and damaging about 50 rolls of linoleum. The main carpet showroom escaped, the water going between the double floor of the windows direct to the basement, many rolls of carpet thus escaping damage. Mr. Menzies. manager of the warehouse, considers that it was fortunate the water went through to the basement and missed the main carpet stock.
