The picture will be the principal release at the Tivoli and Everybody’s Theatres this evening, and no doubt many with overseas associations will be taken back to scenes they know so well. The hunting scene with the South Devon hounds. ‘Kiddecombe Fair,” and all the characters essential, have been depicted faithfully by director Norman Walker, who has certainly caught the atmosphere in this sterling production. The cast is headed by Marguerite Allen and Willaim Freshman. A stirring tale of the prize ring and oilfields. “The Shakedown,” _ with James Murray and Barbara Kent in the leading roles, will be the second feature. The picture has for its theme the age-old ruse of unscrupulous prize fight promoters of faked fights staged fo.r the express intention of collecting a money bet on the local “white hope.” “The Shakedown” gives a vivid and authentic account of some of the evil machinations employed by “ring racketeers.” Supporting James Murray and Barbara Kent are George Kotsonaros, Wheeler Oakman, Jack Hanlon, and Harry Gribbon. Kotsonaros portrays j the role of a top-notch though beetlebrowed light-heavy-weight, while Oak- ! man is seen as the unscrupulous manaI ger.
