HIGH COMMISSIONER’S CABLE The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated June 15, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London:— Tallow.—The spot market continues very quiet, but there is more inquiry for shipments. There is only a small demand at auction. Prices are lower. Present quotations for spot a cwt are: Mutton, fine 41s 6d, fair to good 3Ss to 40s, dark to dull 35s 6d to 365; beef, sweet and/or mixed 39s to 435, fair to good 37s to 395. dark to dull 35s to 365; mixed, fair to good 36s 6d to 38s fid. dark to dull 35s to 35s 6d; gut etc., 34s to 35s 6d. Hemp.—Manila: The market is quiet.. Values at the close were unchanged. Stocks in England on May 31 were 8,500 bales, as against 21,580 bales at the same time last year. Sisal: Market quiet, with very little business doing. Nominal closing values for June-August shipments. Tanganyika No. 1 quoted at £3B buyers, £3B 10s sellers. Mexican: Still nothing offering here, and nominal \alue unchanged. Xew Zealand: Nothing to report. Market dul. Nominal comparative values are: Highpoints, £33 10s; fair, £3l! common, £29 10s: rejected, £27 15s. Tow: Second grade, £2l; third grade, £l7 10s.

Wool. —Bradford market quiet. Merino and fine crossbred tops more or less neglected, but moderate business has been done in medium and coarse crossbred. Present quotations for tops are: 64's warp, 3s 5d a lb; average, 3s 4d; 56’s, 2s 6id; 50’s prepared, 2s 2d to 2s 3d; 40's, prepared, Is lOd. Fruit.—Stocks of New Zealand fairly well cleared, but Jonathan, particularly large size, very troublesome owing to rapid deterioration. The Southampton portion of the Rangitiki shipment is arriving on the market this morning. So far Stunner, Statesman, and Dougherty are in sound condition, and should meet a good demand. Probable opening prices are from 15s to 17s 6d. Delicious and Rome Beauty are fully ripened, and show waste. There are no pears here yet. PAYMENTS TO DAIRYMEN N.Z. DAIRY CO-OP’S ADVANCE The New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company, Limited, has decided to advance 3s scl a lb butter-fat to its suppliers for superfine cream and milk supplied for butter and cheese making during- May. The advance will be paid out on June 20. For the dairying season now closing the Cambridge Dairy Company has advanced to suppliers £242,925, against £206,164 for the previous season, an increase of £36,371. The pay-out for the May supply totals £10,463 on the basis of Is 4ld a lb butter-fat, against £9,036 for correspondingmonth last season, when the basis of payment was the same. For May the company’s supply showed an increase of 16 per cent. The Ruawai Co-operative Dairy Company, Limited, has experienced the best year since its inception, the output of butter and the pay-out being in each case a record. The supply of butter-fat increased by 414,6481 b. the output of butter by 224.55 tons and the pay-out by £33,711. The total payout for the season is £94.622, and will be well over £IOO,OOO when the final adjustments and payments are made in a few weeks. The average payment is over £613 a supplier for the season. The figures for the season are: Output, 717.77 tons, against 492.92 tons in 1927-28; pay-out, £94,622, an increase of £33.711. A total payment of £155,240 has been made to suppliers of the Te Aroha Dairy Company for butter-fat supplied during ihe 1928-29 season, compared with £121,896 for the corresponding period of last year. This represents a net increase of approximately 52 per cent. An advance payment at the rate of Is 5d a lb of butter-fat is being made for cream supplied during May. BRADFORD TOPS MARKET (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) Reed. 11 a.m. LONDON, Monday. The Bradford market is unchanged. Prices are maintained, but without business. Crossbreds are very firm, with slightly more inquiry.
