MOUNT EDEN’S METHODS
When a letter of complaint from a ratepayer who suggested that the present method of collecting rubbish in Mount Eden was insanitary was received. the Mayor of Mount Eden. Mr. E. H. Potter, at last evening’s meeting of the council, said: “We collect our rubbish in a most up-to-date way, with four men and a motor-lorry—a vehicle which, you will notice, the city itself has only just begun to use.” The question was referred to the Works Committee. The Mavor and councillors will attend the Mount Eden Congregational Church on a day to be set apart for a commemoration service to celebrate the restoration to health of his Majesty th The'council has informed the Bank of New Zealand that it will require an overdraft of £40.000 on its district fund tor the current year During the month of May building permits for work valued at £O.O 1 weri> issued by the council.
