FINE PROGRAMMES “Mother Knows Best,” the dramatic story of the mother who ruled and almost ruined her daughter’s life, is the current attraction at both the tlrand and Lyric Theatres. Of ‘‘Mother Knows Best” the critic of the “New York American” wrote: “The film abounds in comedy, through which runs . a thread of pathos. The film is one ; which you should see for several reasons. in the first place Louise Dresser, in the role of the mother, gives a wonderful performance. Next, Madge Bellamy acquits herself admirably. Both players have splendid acting barts, and both indeed make the most °f their roles. Barry Norton as the young lover is also good. At the Grand Theatre the second big Mature is “The Ringer,” the mysterythriller based on Edgar Wallace’s famous play. Annette Benson and Leslie *aber are the stars. At the Lyric Theatre the second feature is “Strong Boy,” starring Beatrice Joy and Victor McLuglen. The most extensive “railroading” ever done in a motion picture studio is now in progress in the filming of 'Yonder of Women,” Clarence Brown’s J}ew production in which Peggy Wood, i&mous stage star, and Lewis Stone Have featured parts. Two German railay stations, one a great urban affair «*nd the other the station of a small '‘Wage, which is built together with ’he station, were constructed, two miles °f tracks laid and two trains of eight each operating in the making of this picture at the Metro-Goldwyn-studios.
