DISAPPOINTED FAMILY
SHIP ARRIVED WITHOUT SON Disappointment was in store for an Auckland family this morning when it was found that a son who had been away from home for over two and ahalf years was not on the Yoserie when she reached here. He had been sent ashore at Colon, 111. Mr. A. E. Clarke, who was born in Auckland, went away to sea in December, 1926, as fourth engineer of the Andrew Weir steamer Foreric. After this vessel was sold Mr. Clarke was transferred to the tanker Inveravon, belonging to the same firm. Later he was transferred to the Yoserie, which put into Auckland this morning short of coal. On this voyage the vessel was en route from Galveston, Texas, to Australia, but running short of coal the vessel put Into Auckland. It is expected that Mr. Clarke is now well on the way to recovery and may be on his way to join his vessel. He is a brother of Mr. S. C. Clarke, a solicitor, of Auckland.
