THAMES INTERESTS
A chess club lias been formed in Thames, and the opening night last Friday was well attended. Mr. E T Donovan, chairman of the committee’ said new players would be taught’ and invited anyone to join up and take part in the game.
The Auckland Travellers’ AssociaV on IS o n giV ‘s a concert at Thames on June 29. Tne proceeds are in aid of the dental clinic.
The Labour Department has now 54 men on the unemployed list. This is an increase of seven for the week
Tho Thames branch of the Women's National Reserve held a social afternoon last Thursdav. The proceed*--amounted to £lO, and this sum will be divided between the Fire Brigade and Rugby Union ground fund. During the afternoon a programme or music and song was given by the following: Mesdames Mellsop, Keven, Williams, Anderson, Green and Miss Arblaster. A vocal duet by the Masters Wills was appreciated.
