MORRINSVILLE NOTES
The proposed action of the Thames Valley Power Board in installing meters on farms was discussed at the meeting of the Morrinsville branch of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union.
The branch’s main reason for objecting to the innovation was on the grounds that it would penalise the small farmer.
Mr. J. M. Allen, president of the branch, who also represents the Morrinsville Borough on the power board, said he was in favour of the meter system and voted lor it, being of the opinion that it would prevent a wastage which was now going on. No further action was decided upon.
At a meeting at Te Hoc, attended by about 25 settlers, it was decided to form a branch of the United Partv. Addresses were delivered by Mr. F. Lye, M.F., and Mr. Frank Farrell, president of the Tlamilton branch. Mr. Malcolm Larney was elected president and Mr. F. J. Farrell secretary.
