PAPATOETOE TO BE GAY.

QUEEN CARNIVAL ARRANGED Delegates representing the sports bodies, school committee and local bodies of Papatoetoe met in the Presbyterian School Hall. Station Road, Papatoetoe, on Monday evening. It was unanimously decided to organise a queen carnival and shopping week. Mr. IT. C. Ernest presided. It is propose:! to devote the proceeds of the carnival toward improving the sports ground on the Great South Road. Tlireo queens were decided on: School Queen. Sports Queen, and a Progressive Queen, supported by the Chamber of Commerce and Welfare League. The shop-keepers decid'd not to enter a candidate, but to devote their energies toward insuring a success of the proposed “Shop in Papatoetoe Week.” It was agreed to hold another meeting of delegates three weeks hence.
