Captain Ahrenberg, who was flying from Stockholm to New York by the northern route in the airplane Sverige, landed safely here, after being forced down at sea through the bursting of a petrol pipe during a battle against a gale. The gunboat Odin answered the airman’s S.O.S. call, and towed the airplane to Vestmanns Island, off Iceland, where the gunboat Fylla supplied petrol to the pilot of the Sverige. It was found that the engine was not damaged. Captain Ahrenberg returned and fitted a new propeller. He ignored warnings and resumed the flight, but was forced to return three hours later, owing to his inability to pene- | irate the thick weather.
