A PUZZLE
Sir, — ‘‘Bewildered Farmer” is ‘‘bewildered” beyond disputing, but he is not much of a farmer to think that farmers “pay 30s for benefits under the Trades Union Act.” They have no standing under that Act, nor was the Act under discussion at the conference, so that our bewildered friend’s further statement as to an attack on it is equally incorrect. As to being “neither Free Trade nor Protectionist,” that requires submission to the Puzzle Department! It is a dark saying. Does it mean that a 20 per cent, protectionist is “neither Free Trade nor Protectionist,” or what does it mean? AT TIIE CONFERENCE.
