BEER AND BENZINE
DRIVER FINED £25 Press Association WAIPUKURAU, Friday. A cliai'ge was laid against Patrick Egan, a drover, o£ Waipukurau, of being in a state of intoxication when in charge of a motor-car on April IS. A second charge was preferred of resisting Constable Butler in the execution of his duty. A plea of guilty was made to both charges. The magistrate, Mr. A. M. Mowlem, said beer and benzine would not mix. A drunken motorist was a serious menace on a road. On the first charge defendant was convicted and fined £2O, and his driver’s licence was cancelled. He was prohibited from driving a motor vehicle until October 1, 1930. A prohibition order was issued by consent. On the second charge he was convicted and fined £5, in default one month’s imprisonment.
