CITY FIRMS PROGRESS

HARTS MOVING TO NEW PREMISES FINANCE FOR EXTENSIONS In order to keep pace with the phenomenal growth of their business. Harts will shortly move to new and commodious premises in High Street. The new home is an eight-storey building which is being specially lighted and fitted out at a cost of £25,000 to make it into a really up-to-the-minute warehouse.

This new development is one that has become necessary through the steady progress of the business and is the reward for the giving of satisfaction to the general public. The scheme, however, has dragged heavily on the firm’s resources, and in order to secure new finance Harts will embark, within the next few days, on a novel coupon-redeeming scheme. HART’S RAPID GROWTH

It will be remembered that two years ago the firm attended to the wants of their customers —mail orders included—in a two-storey establishment In Queen Street. The public soon came to realise that the management of the progressive concern was studying its interests, and was not out solely to make big profits at all costs. Business grew, and demanded bigger premises. A removal was made to the five-storey building vacated by Messrs. Archibald Clark, at the corner of Wellesley and Elliott Streets, and the influx of orders justified this move. Indeed, the pressure of business was so great that it made necessary yet another departure. Consequently, Hart’s by the end of the present month are expected to be established in their new home in High street. The premises will embrace nfany new features of the firm’s new policy, including a tearoom and cafeteria, and a “cash-and-carry” grocery department. THE SCHEME From June 7 to June 14, inclusive, a special “Hartonia” carnival will be held in conjunction with the gigantic sale that Hart’s are conducting in an effort to realise on their stocks and provide for immediate needs. During this seven days’ period pink cash register dockets* will be issued for all goods purchased, and these will be redeemable on dates to be specified a few months hence, when the firm will be established in their new warehouse. Amounts from one penny to £I,OOO will be redeemable, and the chits transferable. The scheme provides for goods to the value of the amount figuring on the coupons being given customers if they purchase further goods of equal value. Actually the concession means that for every £2 spent customers will receive goods to the value of £3. It may be mentioned that parts of the dockets only may also be redeemed. —l3
