“CHEER GERMS”
AUCKLAND’S POPULAR MALADY
Germs are very prevalent during the winter months, especially the “ ’flu” germ, but there is one which does not have a bad effect—the “cheer germ.” Next Wednesday in the big Town Hall, between 12.30 and 1.30 p.m., cheer germs in large numbers will be loosed on the public and all are urged to attend that they may contract the community singing disease. The cheer germs circulated at the first “sing” last Wednesday soon did their work and before long the large crowd was singing merrily. It is hoped that the germs have been spreading through the community during the past week and that still more of the “diseased persons” will attend the second “sing” on Wednesday. Mr. Arthur Wilson will be the song leader and the Mayor, Mr. George Baildon, will preside. The soloists will be Miss Beryl Smith and Mr. Clinton Williams. Mrs. Barrington Snow will be the accompanist. Books of words, containing 62 numbers, are distributed free to singers. There will be a collection in aid of charities.
