TEACHER’S SALARIES

INCREASES IMPOSSIBLE, SAYS MINISTER "I’m not going to pretend that any radical change is going to be made,” said the Hon. H. A. Atmore, Minister of Education when speaking on the question of teachers’ salaries at the annual dinner of the Auckland Headmasters’ Association last evening. The Minister said that, with a deficit of £500,000, it was impossible to give increases, but he believed that the labourer in the educational vineyard was worthy of good pay. Although increases may not be granted, he could give an assurance that certain anomalies would be removed.
