South Africa.—Derbyshire in its first innings against South Africa made 208 far six wickets. The match was drawn. Rain all over the country interfered with county cricket. Warwickshire v. Middlesex.—Warwickshire in its first innings made 197. Bowling, Peebles took four wickets for 61 runs, and Robins four for 72. Middlesex in its first innings made 273 for nine wickets (Hendren 74). Middlesex won on the first innings.
Glamorgan v. Yorkshire* —Glamorgan in its first innings made 146. Bowling, Leyland took five wickets for 44 runs, and Rhodes four for 30. Yorkshire made 147 for five wickets (Holmes not out 72). Yorkshire won on the first innings. Somerset v. Leicester. —Somerset in its first innings made 105. Bowling, Geary took four wickets for 40 runs. Somerset in its second innings made 61 Bowling, Astill took eight for 23. Leicester in its first innings made 126. Bowling, Wellard took eight for 55, and White four for 44. Leicester in its second innings made 42 for six. White took four wickets for nine .runs. Leicester won by four wickets. Lancashire v. Kent. —Lancashire in its first innings made 174. Bowling, Ashdown took five wickets for 52 runs. Lancashire in its second innings made 92 for one wicket. Kent in its first innings made 215 (Hardinge 86). Kent won on the first innings. Gloucester v. Oxford.— Gloucester in its first innings made 184 for five wickets declared. Oxford made 223 far six wickets. The match was drawn. Cambridge v. Sussex.—Cambridge in its first innings made 337 for eight wickets declared (Block 108). Sussex in its first innings made 266 for seven wickets. The match was drawn. In a friendly match Essex in its first innings made 154 (Cutmore 79). Bowling, Barratt took four wickets for 29. Essex in its second innings made 10S. A Staples took three wickets for four runs. Nottingham in its first innings made 211 (A. Staples not out 66), and in its second innings 52 far five wickets. Nottingham won by five wickets.
