ASHBURTON TROTS FAVOURITES FAIL TO SCORE (Special to THE SUN) ASHBURTON, Today. The Ashburton Trotting Club's meeting was held today in glorious weather before a large attendance. The track was in good order. During the race for the Longbeach Handicap the well-known trotter Bon Elect, by Bon Homme from an Electioneer mare, dropped dead. Bon Elect has been racing in the Dominion for a considerable number or years without attaining any high honours. The gelding was 16 years old.
