Luckily no- one was hurt. A sedan car was being driven down the hill by Miss Thompson when it skidded on the slippery surface, crashed through the protecting fence and came to rest balanced on the edge of a 15-foot bank. The driver managed to get out without over-balancing her machine and went for help. A passing motor-lorry was stopped and it set out to tow the car from its dangerous position, blocking, in the operation, most of the road Before the car was clear a light m ot s r owned and driven bv Mr. i. .t,. House, a carrier, appeared over the brow of the hill and started to descend at a good speed. The driver could not stop it in time. He shouted a warning and then jumped clear just before the colilsion occurred. The bonnet his light truck was badly damaged, but the heavy vehicle, which was towing out the car, was not harmed. Miss Thompson s par, in the initial accident, had its chassis slightly damaged and was taken to a garage.
