VALUE OF COMMISSIONERS APPOINTMENT RECOMMENDED Recommending that New Zealand Trade Commissioner ships should be established in other parts of the Empire, a deputation from the Auckland Chamber of Commerce waited on th 9 Prime Minister, Sir Joseph Ward, today. Mr. H. T. Merritt, chairman of the Chamber of Commerce, said chat he had been asked to mention the extension of the Trade Commissioner service to other parts of the Empire. The past Prime Minister was much in favour of extension to Canada. Where other governments had established these commissioners, trade had increased. The amount of money expended was insignificant compared with the resultant returns.

Replying to the deputation, Sir Joseph said that the appointment of a, commissioner to Canada was under consideration. The Government wag completely in sympathy with the pro' posal.
