DISCHARGE POSTPONED
CARRIER’S BANKRUPTCY SALE OF MACHINERY The suspension for two years of a discharge from bankruptcy was the decision of Mr. Justice Herdman in the Supreme Court yesterday, when Edward George Meynell, carrier (Mr. Grant), sought his release. Opposing the application; Mr. Prendergast said Meynell had recklessly Incurred debts, making no attempt to pay them and boasted that he would beat them all. Counsel said he should not be allowed to go on incurring debts and escape his responsibility. After hearing evidence, in which Meynell disputed an account for board, saying that he had done wbrk in return, and also, in respect of another account, his Honour refused to grant the discharge for two years. Meynell admitted that he - had bought some plant from the 'Onehunga Woollen Co., and after paying a certain sum on it had sold the machinery to a city firm, retaining the proceeds.
