ENJOYABLE FUNCTION AT PAPATOETOE j JUNIOR DEBATERS A very enjoyable function, under the auspices of the Papatoetoe Cecil Rhodes Club (Junior Debating Society). was held in the ; Papatoetoe Town Hall last even- ! ing. Extras were played by Aliss Emily Moffat. The supper tables were attractively decorated with bowls of golden wattle. | Among those dancers present were: Miss Ruby Wallace, wearing apple green georgette, with tiered ankle-length skirt, and corsage of ring velvet. Aliss Gladys Grin ter, in lipstick red crepe de chine .with over-drapings of black and silver lace. Aliss Mavis Gubb, wearing a dainty frock of deep rose frilled net. Aliss Snelling, frocked in new mary blue georgette, with ruchecl hem.

Aliss Rona Lipscombe, whose frock was of deep amber crepe de chine, with velvet trimmings. Aliss Dulcie Grinter, in a dainty frock of frilled cyclamen shaded georgette.

WanLe^TG^inTertna^BuTcimaS: PLUNKET SOCIETY BRANCH AT WAIUKU A meeting convened by the chairman of the Waiuku Town Board, Mr. J. J. A. James, for the purpose of forming a sub-branch of the Franklin Plunket Society, was held in Waiuku on Thursday. Although there was only a small attendance, the meeting was a very were: Mesdames Perkins and D* H. enthusiastic one. Among those present Wily, the president and secretary of the Franklin Plunket Society. Airs. Wily gave a very interesting address on the aims and work of the Plunket Society. It was decided that those present, Mesdames James, Forbes, Neal, Duff, Pickard, Farrelly, Adams, and Comer, should form a temporary committee to canvass the district for more who were willing to form the sub-branch. The meeting also decided that a further meeting should bo called on June 14 for the purpose of electing the officers of the branch. PAEROA BRANCH The Paeroa branch of the Plunket Society was well attended on Thursday evening, when the Mayor, Air. W. Marshall. presided. The president, Airs. Marshall, presented the committee’s report, which showed th 6 establishment of a sub-branch at Paeroa was decided at a public, meeting last year, the nurse commencing her duties almost immediately after. The institution has proved very successful. The number of visits made to the Plunket rooms from June 1, 1928. to March 3. 1929, was as follow: Mothers. 442: babies, 434: children over two years. S 4; and visits to babies in their own homes, 30 —total, 990. In every case the latest information recorded ’hat general health was good. The election of officers was as follow: President. Airs. W. Marshall; vicepresidents, All's. G. S. Talboys and Mrs. C. X. O'Neill: treasurer. Airs. A. P. Grant: secretary. Airs. G. H. Taj lor: committee, Alesdames V. J. Tnnis, R. S. Carden. S. J. Hedge, E. P.
