FOR CHURCH FUNDS
SUCCESSFUL AT HOME AUGMENTS COFFERS OTOROHANGA FUNCTION In aid of the funds of Saint Bride’s Anglican Church, Mrs. J. M. Matthews and her daughter. Miss Betty Matthews, gave an “At Home” at “Glen Lee,” Otorohanga, last Wednesday evening. Mrs. Matthews received her guests wearing a frock of black georgette, relieved with white. Miss Matthews wore a. pretty gown of blue georgette and silver. One of the larger rooms was cleared for dancing, and plenty of tables were available for those who wished to play bridge. There were guessing competitions, with cakes, a dressed turkey, and a dressed pig for prizes. The evening was a decided success, and the hostesses are to be congratulated on substantially benefiting the church finances. Among those present were:—Mesdames Austin, Alexander, Blomfield, Corbett, Cowern, Ellis, Eveleigh, Farmer, Fleming, Fortescue, Gilberd, Henderson, Lawson, Parr, Patterson, Phillips, Treharne-Phillips, Smith, Symes, Tait, Veale, Verner, Wallace, Misses Rhoda Glover, Hall, Leatham, Mossman, McCormick, Osmond, Onnsby, Reelial, Rhodes, Sutherland, Gladys and Margaret Verner.
